Consumer level demand for Communications by country

This series profiles the major changes to consumer demand for communications that will occur in each of 61 countries over the next 20 years. The report covers all the key demographic trends, the changing affluence of the society, distribution of households by income, and the impact of these factors on demand for telecommunications services, including fixed line, mobile and fixed broadband. These reports are over 50 pages in length. An example of a country report can be seen by clicking here. (Link to PDF version of the report)

The reports forecast the trends, drivers and inhibitors of telecommunications services demand by consumers in each market between 2010 and 2030.  The reports forecasts trends in and household demand for the telecoms market in terms of fixed lines, mobiles and fixed broadband services.  Where relevant, the reports also analyse differences between demand in urban and rural areas.  Both services take up and revenue levels by household are forecast by year to 2030.

The reports first look at demographic changes that are occurring in each market in terms of overall population trends, age profiles, household numbers, life cycle profiles, urbanisation, and educational profiles.  The reports also examine employment, occupational profiles and household income and expenditure patterns for both urban and rural areas.

This is followed by a section which looks at the pattern of spending on communications by each of four  income groups, by household, by capita and by urban and rural markets through to 2030. It shows the relative importance of particular income groups to telecoms spending in each market covered.

The reports then examine actual expenditure by households (separated for each of urban and rural households where appropriate) and show what proportion of total expenditure is accounted for by each income group as well as the expected level of household expenditure in total through to 2030. The reports also examine the historic and projected household income levels required for ownership of specific telecoms service, including fixed lines, mobiles and fixed broadband subscriptions.  In short how rapidly will the consumer market for telecoms grow over the next two decades in real terms, and which particular income groups will drive that increase in consumption.  Finally the reports examine the revenue implications of these forecasts for the total market as well as for urban and rural households.
