Global demographics releases county level database for China

China with the largest population in the world and its large geographical area is clearly too large to permit a single business or marketing strategy. With differences in age profiles, income levels, population concentrations etc, it is essential to be quite geographically focused. The most detailed level of data available is County. There are 2,178 Counties for which good historic demographic and socio economic data is available and from which it has been possible to prepare forecast to 2029. With County level data it is possible to be quite targeted in terms of the information used and the marketing and business strategies that are developed, and this in turn leads to cost efficiencies and hence profitability.

Global Demographics County level database for China covers 2,178 Counties and County cities. For each county Global Demographics database provides the following information separately for urban and rural populations:


  • total population
  • age by gender profile
  • average household size
  • number of households
  • number of households by a number of persons in them (up to 5+ persons)
  • average household income
  • distribution of households by five income breaks (Rmb 0 to 20,000, 20,000 to 40,000, 40,000 to 60,000, 60,000 to 80,000, 80,000+)
  • average expenditure per household by income level
  • expenditure on key categories by income level


In addition, for the county as a whole, real total GDP and GDP per capita is available, as is the rate of urbanization for each of the population, and households.

The data is available for 2002 to 2007 actual, and is projected to 2029.

The data is available, either on an individual county basis in a single Excel Work sheet, or if buying multiple counties then each county is a row, and each variable is a separate sheet in an Excel workbook.
